Believe it or not, you can keep a roof over Press Pass TV’s head for just $250 a month. To sweeten the deal, that $250 goes right to another great youth organization: the Boston-Area Youth Organizing Project, our generous landlords. Our office space gives us a location to work together with incredible young people to teach them new skills and empower them to think critically about their world. This summer, our office was home to the first ever Press Pass TV Summer Leadership Institute. Your gift of $250 keeps a roof over our head for a whole month
“New Faithful” printer, to replace our dearly departed “Old Faithful”
After a year of servitude we are saddened to announce that our Laser Printer “ Old Faithful” is no longer with us. Old Faithful came to us second hand- but we never held that against it. Having printed countless brochures, grants, budgets and directions Old Faithful has been an instrumental part of our team and of our success. The decline started with our printer cannibalizing its own paper before finally its paper feeder just gave out. We are now looking for a new (or refurbished) Printer (perhaps even multipurpose) in need of a new home. We got the paper already waiting and many projects ready to be printed! Although our office is lonely and quiet without the horrid grumblings of Old Faithful, we are ready for a new start! Your gift of $300 gives us that chance.
Field Report from Press Pass TV, including youth stipends
Press Pass TV has reported live all over Boston- from the State House to the Freedom House. Your contribution of just $150 can make a whole report possible. Your contribution will make it possible for two Press Pass TV youth reporters to be paid for a day of work and an important Boston cause or organization to to get the recognition it deserves! And if that’s not enough satisfaction, you’ll also get a special thank you in the credits! You can donate $150 dollars by clicking the donate button below.
Summer job for Press Pass TV youth
Your gift of $1200 gives a Boston teenager the opportunity to earn a paycheck while learning new skills and being empowered to make a difference in their community. One student who worked with us this past summer wrote us about her experience: “I’ve told everybody and anybody who will listen about how great Press Pass is and the experience I had with you guys.” She even wrote her college essay about her work here. Imagine giving a young person a start to their career, skills to tell their own story, and the power to make a difference. Now you can! Your gift of $1200 pays a Press Pass TV youth reporter $200 a week for 6 weeks.
or you can contribute $100 a month toward one youth salary.
Site Based Program for 25 youth
Your gift of $3,000 gives Press Pass TV the opportunity to share our work with one of many deserving organizations in the city that are craving media programming for their young people. For what is just $120 per student, you can give 25 students 12 weeks of education, empowerment and the opportunity to make their own media- many for the first time ever. We’ve done programs at the Fenway High School, Roslindale Community Center, Project MOVE, the Edwards Middle School and many more. You can make a one time donation of $3,000 here:

Our Staff
Press Pass TV’s staff is so committed to this work, that they have worked without pay already 2 months this year (except Gabriel Mugar, who has volunteered his time and energy to Press Pass TV since founding it 5 years ago). Paying for the rent, car insurance and groceries of the staff doesn’t sound very glamorous, but it’s those things that make it possible for us to focus on building the incredible work we’re so proud of here at Press Pass TV.
Co-Director Joanna Marinova
Joanna works hard every day and many nights to ensure the success of Press Pass TV. She’s the first to grab a camera and her cell phone and meet one of our youth reporters at the scene of a breaking story. It’s not unusual to find her at the office at 11:00 on a school night studying new effects in Final Cut Pro or writing a grant to keep this work going. Joanna is thoughtful, bright and works well with others. You can’t take Joanna home with you, but you can ensure she keeps hers by contributing what you can here:
Co-Director Cara Lisa Berg Powers
Cara is committed to using media as a tool for empowering youth to take action in their communities. Press Pass TV is a natural home for this passionate educator, organizer and author of By Any Media Necessary. Cara is the backbone of our Site Based programs, writing lesson plans and building relationships with new sites, even teaching at many organizations. Rumor has it Cara actually can be in three places at once. Your support by clicking the button below will make sure that Press Pass TV can be at least two of those places.
Founder and Co-Director Gabriel Mugar
Gabe has volunteered his time and energy to Press Pass TV for over 5 years. Currently a full time graduate student, Gabe still works hard each work developing funds, programs and new ideas for Press Pass TV. Gabe started Press Pass TV after observing that his students in Roxbury had low self esteem about their communties, and that mainstream media was making it worse. Last year he started a Master’s degree to be able to make an even greater contribution to Press Pass TV. Gabe is an eager young man with an entrepenurial spirit. Your support will enable him to continue to pursue his dream of empowering young people to create their own visions of their community and empowering their neighbors to make a change.
Healthcare for Press Pass TV staff members
Just $7,000 can keep Press Pass TV healthy all year round. As an organization fighting everyday for the rights and well being of all, we think it is critical that we take good care of our people. With your help, we can make sure that our staff has access to the healthcare that they need to never miss a day of working hard to empower our youth and communities!
